David Lowenstein proved personable as well as perspicacious Monday
night, often waxing witty with his parenting wisdom, and refusing to
allow anyone to call him "Dr"! A healthy number of interested
parties - not only from CTA but also from the wider community - turned
out to enjoy this lively, educational evening. Preceding Lowenstein's
talk was a brief but illuminating Power Point presentation, "A
Day in the Life of a CTA Kindergartner," expertly narrated by Aviva
Rosenberg and Allecia Steckel, and aided by the technical wizardry of
Hillel Meyer. Lowenstein's informative talk focused on four positive
parenting principles and a number of specific strategies for enacting/adhering
to those principles. After his presentation, Lowenstein graciously answered
a volley of questions, handling even the most idiosyncratic of queries
with aplomb. For more details on Dr. Lowenstein's areas of expertise,
educational background, or his quarterly newsletter, contact Nancy Golden,
PR/Special Projects Director.

Question: How do bona fide thespians react to winter weather advisory
afflicting Columbus, several inches of accumulated snow, more snow falling,
and a wrathful wind whipping up a fury of powdery white? Answer: They
shrug, "Snow-Shmo - ON WITH THE SHOW!"That's right, the sixth
grade (and a few younger performers) defied a chilly climate to warm
our community with delight through a riveting rendition of Fiddler on
the Roof Junior. Thankfully, parents, relatives, friends and theatre
fans proved equally undaunted by the cold and wet, showing up in droves
both Tuesday and Wednesday nights to hum, cheer, foot-tap and clap with
glee! Contributing immeasurably to the production's razzle-dazzle -
enabling extraordinary sets, authentic costumes and much more - was
a generous grant from The Perpetual Fund, established by and in memory
of Bella and Harry Wexner. The number of "stars" from the cast
are too many to list but all contributed to an awesome production. Kudos
for this stunning show are awarded to: Director and resident "Dame
Drama," Laurie Alexander, Musical Master and Accompanist Extraordinaire,
Hillel Meyer - whose dancing digits, astonishing arpeggios, and chromatic
capabilities offered an outstanding one-man orchestra; Production Manager
and Costume Coordinator, Kate Willis; and the "Awesome Threesome"
of scenery construction - Eugene Simakovsky, Andre Stepanov and Pytor
Briskin.
