A DAY WITH THE SECRETARY OF STATE

Secretary of State Frank LaRose was a guest at CTA in January meeting with various groups of leaders and students.  His visit was initiated by Howie Beigelman, a CTA parent and CEO of Ohio Jewish Communities, a statewide Jewish advocacy organization in partnership with government.

The Secretary is the government leader in Ohio overseeing elections and entrepreneurship.

His visit included an Executive Session with members of the CTA Board and other available community leadership, a presentation to the Upper School that focused on elections and voting rights, a leadership summit with the 5th and 6th graders and the Lower school student council, and a story time with kindergarten students reading “One Vote Two Votes I Vote You Vote”.  The Secretary left an autographed copy of the book for the kindergarten class as they become future voters.

Students asked thoughtful, provocative, and respectful questions about the 2020 elections, the Secretary’s background in military service, and his future government service aspirations.  Community leaders were able to share what our school brings to central Ohio and how state funding, EdChoice, security grants, and business growth in Ohio benefits the local Jewish community’s growth.

Thank you to the teachers who prepared students for his visit.  It was great to welcome a statewide leader into our school.
