Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS)

MTSS is defined as “the practice of providing high-quality instruction and interventions matched to student need, monitoring progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals, and applying child response data to important educational decisions” (Batsche et al., 2005). At Columbus Torah Academy, we believe that students should receive an individualized education in which their needs’ are being met on a personal level.  If a child is struggling in a subject area or outperforming their peers, teachers will ask to schedule a meeting with the MTSS team. At this meeting, our learning support teachers, principal, and school psychologist will develop a student support plan to meet the child’s needs. Once the plan has been developed, we will check in on the progress of the child in 6 weeks while collecting data to see if the research-based interventions are improving the academic skills of the child.
